when to rotate your tires, to maximize tire life.

 Most vehicles in the country are front engine, front wheel drive. The front tires wear faster because they are used for both driving and steering. It is recommended to have the tires rotated every change oil which is usually every 5,000 km. Don’t go over 10,000 km without rotating your tires.

Rotation solves some uneven tread wear problems too! Have you rotated your tires in the last 10,000 km reading? Sample tire rotation in the photo.

FF – Front engine, front wheel drive
FR – Front engine, rear wheel drive

However here in the Philippines most of the time we do not rotate the tires. simply because it is hard to remove it and lack of equipment. you need at least 1 Jack, 2 safety stands to perform this.

 

When to change your tire?

 When using worn out tires, the stopping distance becomes longer and longer.

Changing tires can mean a whole lot of difference on your road trip safety. On wet surfaces, worn out tires will make your tires skid (hydroplane). Look out for the tread wear indicators as shown in the picture. When your tire gets to this level, its time to change.

Hydroplane – Hydroplaning occurs when a tire encounters more water than it can scatter. Water pressure in the front of the wheel pushes water under the tire, and the tire is then separated from the road surface by a thin film of water and loses traction. The result is loss of steering, braking and power control.

Here in the Philippines when the tires are already in the Tread Wear Indicator we still use it until we find new replacement or until the tire are already broke. 

How to read H/T, A/T and M/T in a Tire?

 H/T – means Highway Terrain. This tire is made for flat roads. Most SUVs come originally equipped with H/T tires are they are usually quiet, comfortable and long lasting. Perfect for daily urban driving.

 

 

A/T – means All Terrain tire. The tire is designed to handle slight off roads and flat roads. most SUVs like this pattern because it has a good looks, it somehow quiet but not as quiet as H/T. This is the most commonly used tires in the Philippines.

M/T – means Mud Terrain. The tire is good for mostly unpaved roads. Think traversing farms and conquering mountains. The tire is uncomfortable and noisy for daily commute in paved roads though, so make sure you need this before changing over. It has the greatest look for the SUVs.

How to use HACHI anti-flat AEAL?

1. remove the air inside the tire by removing the valve.
2. pull out the bottle cap and put the hose inside the tire valve.
3. Pour the liquid anti-flat AEAL inside the tire.
4. Put air inside the tire after returning the valve.
5. rotate the tire 180º and it will automatically seal the hole.                                                        
6. Tire prevention and cure.

How to know the production date of a tire?

 

The (0907). 09 means weeks. 07 means years. In 1 month there are 4 weeks. First week of march 2017 is the production date of this tire below.

How to read 185/65R14?
